This course will help you to:

  • Peruse and construe work documents
     
  • Calculate approximately job costs
     
  • Dismantling and reassembling furniture
     
  • Eradicate old finishes by stripping, sanding, scraping or applying solvents or paint strippers
     
  • Mixing and applying stains and paint to timber and other surfaces
     
  • Spray on lacquers, varnish and two-pack finishes
     
  • Classification of wax, polish,  or lacquer
     
  • Application of wax, Polish and Lacquer on furniture
     
  • Application of graining and decorative finishes
     
  • Set up, activate and maintain other furniture finishing tools and machinery.

 

Instructional Techniques

We impart knowledge and Practical Training in following way:

Ethics, discipline, motivation, health and safety training:    Half an hour daily            (10%) 

Theoretical knowledge:                                                                      One (01) hour daily              (25%)

Hands on Training:                                                                                   Six (06) hour daily                (65%)

Wood and Finishing Technology

  • Identification hard wood and soft wood
  • Types of hard wood and soft wood
  • Coloring agents and coatings
  • Wood problems and finishing defects

Surface Preparation

  • Removal of old polish, stains by scraping and sanding
  • Apply putty on surface.
  • Make surface Smooth by abrasive paper

Spot Repair

  • Color theory and repairing of small nicks, dents, and scratches in wood.
  • Techniques used for furniture spot repair
